United Space Structures
Currently, we are in development of several robotic platforms that will have the capability to build any type of structure imagined in the most economical way possible.
The design of the structure allows for the creation of a variable artificial gravity by spinning the cylinder about its long axis.
This feature will allow for long duration flights without the disabling effects of muscle and bone loss due to zero gravity. Physically and psychologically, the environment will be easier to adapt to than zero gravity.
Large Interior Volume
The interior of the Gaia class vehicle is designed to be reconfigurable within the structure's bulkheads.
A modular panel system is used for the floors and walls within the bulkhead zones. These panels are structural, but in addition they also contain electrical, data, fresh water and wastewater systems.
The panels will also have integrated lighting, heating & cooling system in addition to a variety of sensors that will monitor all life support & safety systems throughout the station.
The double wall system of the structure's inner and outer hull is designed with a void between them; there will be a structural space frame system that will span the hulls.
The rest of the interior volume will be filled with water that will act as the radiation shield and also the water reservoir for the station.
The water-filled void of the double wall system will act as the last line of defense for the station to protect against the potential of ballistic penetrations from space debris that are moving at relatively high velocities.
The outer hull will be composed of layers of material that will be several meters thick; this will be the first line of defense for ballistic protection.
Types of Structures
This habitat could be an earth observational and monitoring facility or it could be a combination of all of these functions.
The solar explorer, like other habitats, will be 100% self sustaining. Everything gets recycled; the facility is a closed loop biosphere. This self sustaining capability will allow us to travel to the furthest reaches of our solar system in safety.
Once the habitat has arrived at its destination it will establish an orbit and then stage the deployment and construction of the settlement while providing a safe orbital facility throughout its duration.

The solar exploring habitat can be configured for long term exploration, mining, and processing. The finished product can be transported to a looping space ferry for transport back to earth for manufacturing.
Eventually once in-situ materials from space are available USS will build processing and manufacturing platforms in space for a wide variety of products for in space use and for use on Earth.

The solar exploring habitat could be launched into a continuous elliptical orbit between any two objects. This will result in the conservation of the launch energy required, with only minor corrections required occasionally. The continuously looping space ferry system would be met by space taxis that would load and unload cargo and passengers at each destination.
Monitoring and potentially manipulating our climate is of paramount importance and requires immediate action to avert trillions of dollars of losses and human suffering.
